The community is coming together once again to support Illinois State Trooper Kevin Howell and his family as Kevin continues his fight against recurrent head and neck cancer.

On Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM, friends, family, fellow law enforcement members, and supporters from throughout the community are invited to the Sangamon County Fairgrounds for the Kevin Howell Benefit & Fundraiser.

The afternoon will be an opportunity to enjoy good food, live music, and fellowship while rallying around Kevin and his family during an incredibly difficult chapter in their lives.

An Afternoon of Music, Food, and Community

The Kevin Howell Benefit & Fundraiser is open to the public, and everyone is invited to come out and show their support.

The four-hour event will feature:

  • Live music featuring members of Lick Creek

  • Food and drinks

  • Silent auction

  • Raffles

  • Fellowship with friends and members of the community

  • Opportunities to show your support for Kevin and the Howell family

More than simply a fundraiser, the event is a chance for the community that Kevin has spent so many years serving to stand alongside him when he needs that support most.

Continuing to Stand With Kevin

Kevin has served with the Illinois State Police since 2007 and currently serves as President of Illinois State Police Troopers Lodge 41, representing approximately 3,400 active and retired RC-164 members.

His battle with cancer began in 2016 and has included multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation, and a clinical trial. Most recently, Kevin began receiving treatment at Envita Medical Center, an out-of-state cancer treatment facility.

Because his current treatment is not covered by insurance, Kevin and his family continue to face substantial out-of-pocket medical expenses in addition to the challenges that come with his ongoing care.

The support surrounding Kevin throughout this fight has already made a meaningful difference. The October 11 benefit is another opportunity to remind Kevin and his family just how many people are standing with them.
