Remembering Illinois State Trooper Kevin Howell: A Legacy of Strength and Service
It is with heavy hearts that the Illinois State Police Heritage Foundation shares the passing of Illinois State Trooper Kevin Howell following a courageous, nearly decade-long battle with cancer.
Kevin's Final Days
Over the past 15 months, Kevin faced an incredibly difficult battle enduring numerous treatments. Despite his unwavering determination, doctors had exhausted all available treatment options, and no further advancements could be made in his care. Kevin and his wife returned home from Arizona to be surrounded by their four children, family, and loved ones during this difficult time. Sadly, Kevin passed away following his long and courageous fight.
Honoring a Life of Service
Since joining the Illinois State Police in 2007, Kevin dedicated his career to serving others. As President of Illinois State Police Troopers Lodge 41, he represented approximately 3,400 active and retired members, remaining committed to supporting his fellow troopers even throughout his own health challenges.
The Illinois State Police Heritage Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported Kevin through donations, prayers, and encouragement throughout his journey. The outpouring of love and generosity has been a meaningful reminder of the community standing behind Kevin and his family.
Continuing to Support the Howell Family
As Kevin's wife, four children, and loved ones navigate this heartbreaking loss, we ask that you continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
The fundraiser established for Kevin remains open to provide continued support for his family during this difficult time.
Kevin spent his life serving and supporting others. May that same love and compassion continue to surround his family in the days ahead.
Rest in peace, Trooper Kevin Howell. Your strength, service, and dedication will never be forgotten.
