A vintage 1987 Dodge Diplomat AHB State Police car with rusted hood sits in a metal garage. A "Midway" sign and boxes are in the background.

A genuine piece of Illinois State Police history! This 1987 Dodge Diplomat (AHB) operated within the department under the division of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement. Yes, this mid-size sedan used to go after truck-tractors hauling 53-foot trailers! No pickups or SUVs in the late ‘80s! After decommissioning, this example made its way down to the sunny state of Florida. Its previous owner, Zach Zumwalt, appreciated the mission of the Heritage Foundation so much that he gracefully donated the car to the museum in November of 2024! We are forever indebted to Mr. Zumwalt for his generosity to us all. The car will be restored at a steady pace as an example of an old District 15 tollway car to pay homage to our ISP fellows up north who keep safe the travelers of the incredibly busy toll roads surrounding Chicagoland. The restoration of this car will need the support of many. Please considering donating your time, skills, or capital to keep the project rolling! Special thanks to Zach Zumwalt and Luke Hartigan for getting this project started!
