Our 1972 Dodge Polara wagon, “Lara the Polara,” represents the former Safety Education division of the ISP. This car would be driven by what we now refer to as the Public Information Officer (PIO) to events to demonstrate the rolls of the ISP in citizens’ everyday lives. Wagons were also used on the tollways and in commercial vehicle law enforcement. This beautifully restored clone was purchased from retired Chicago Police Officer Luke Hartigan out of Dwight, Illinois, who restored the vehicle with the help of Mark Walther and others. The Polara is powered by a 360 cubic inch engine backed by a 727 TorqueFlite automatic transmission.
